Calsonic Impul GT-R: Winner of GT500 class, Super GT Malaysia 2013 (courtesy of supergt.net)
For the third year in a row, Consolsys have sponsored the Super GT Malaysia race at Sepang, taking up a Corporate Suite this year that overlook the action-packed Penang Straight stretch of the circuit. Sponsored tickets to the two day event was distributed to customers, partners, our staff and their family & friends.
There were many attractions both on track & off track over the two days with the GT500 class race as the main event on Sunday which flagged off at 4pm sharp. The Calsonic Impul GT-R starting from pole position driven by Tsugio Matsuda and Joao Paulo Lima de Oliveira emerge victorious with a winning time of 1:50'11.232 after 54 laps.

At first, the ZENT Cerumo SC430 driven by Kohei Hirate, starting from the second position, closely followed Masuda's Calsonic Impul GT-R into the first corner. Just when the race developed into a duel for the lead between these two cars, the ZENT running in second was bumped by the Yuhi Sekiguchi's Reito MOLA GT-R running in third, forcing the damaged Zent to return to the pit to replace its damaged right rear tyre.
Later the very fast Weider Modulo HSV-010 driven by Naoki Yamamoto, which started in 8th place, had worked its way up the grid passing Matsuda to take the lead. Unfortunately for the Weider, it's engine failed to start during a routine pitstop to change drivers, and this delay handed the lead back Calsonic, now driven by de Oliveira.
De Oliveira in his Calsonic Impul GT-R (Nissan GT-R) maintained a 4 second lead over second placed Juichi Wakisaka's Denso Kobelco SC430 (Lexus SC430) for the remainder of the race to mark the first win of the season for Nissan GT-R and it's 21st overall in the GT500 class. Takashi Kogure in the Raybrig HSV-010 (Honda HSV-010 GT) took up the last podium spot 8 seconds behind the leader, giving Bridgestone Tyres a clean sweep of the podium places.
